Distracted driving is becoming an epidemic. More and more people have their eyes on their phone rather than on the road when driving. We’ve all been guilty of it at some point, but we may not realize just how dangerous those few seconds of screen time are.

Distracted driving is defined as any activity that could divert a person’s attention away from the primary task of driving. According to Distraction.gov, “In 2014, 3,179 people were killed, and 431,000 were injured in motor vehicle crashes involving distracted drivers.” In California, it’s illegal to even look at your phone, and it seems as though more states will follow suit.

Ford’s SYNC® System

In response to this trend, Ford created SYNC to help drivers could keep their eyes off their screens and on the road. New Ford owners can choose from three different system levels: SYNC, SYNC with MyFord Touch, and SYNC 3.

  • The standard level SYNC lets you use your voice to make a call, listen to music, voice-control, select apps with SYNC AppLinkTM, and much more.
  • By upgrading to SYNC with MyFord Touch, drivers can utilize all the features of basic SYNC plus an intelligently organized screen with four quadrants that help keep you connected.
  • The top and most recently developed level, SYNC 3, has enhanced voice recognition capabilities. Not only do drivers have access to everything the previous two levels provide, but they can also use FordPass®. This system allows Ford drivers to track their vehicle’s location and remotely access vehicle features such as start, lock and unlock, and vehicle status including fuel level and approximate mileage.

Ford Vehicles with SYNC® System

A large number of Ford vehicles are available with SYNC or better, starting with 2015 models. These vehicles are as follows:
